Voter registration and GOTV

Vote.org runs large-scale, national, voter registration and Get-Out-The-Vote drives. We focus specifically on tactics that scale with capital, not labor. This allows our small team to reach tens of millions of voters. In 2018, Vote.org registered 1.5 million voters and ran GOTV campaigns to an additional 40+ million voters in all 50 states.

Population(s) Served

Vote.org builds and maintains the Vote.org website, along with a suite of powerful, easy-to-use, voter tools that guide citizens through registering to vote, verifying their registration status, getting their absentee ballots, signing up for email and SMS election reminders, and looking up their polling place/early voting/ballot information. The Vote.org website was visited 16 million times in 2018.

Population(s) Served

Vote.org runs large randomized controlled experiments with leading social scientists in order to contribute knowledge to the civic engagement field. All of this research is available to the public free of charge on our website. Vote.org is also continuously developing new methods and tools to reach voters and get them to the polls in greater numbers. Since 2016 we have tested a variety of tactics, including one-to-one SMS, satellite radio, outdoor advertising (primarily billboards), print media, direct mail, and relational organizing, both as distinct tactics and in a multi-layered approach. We've also tested and deployed extensive electronic signature solutions, which allow citizens who don't have access to printers to sign and submit their voter registration forms directly from their mobile devices.
