Board development

We have developed a long term strategic plan for our Board development. Which includes the young men from our 'Growth Mindset' Mentoring Academy 8-18 years old. They are given an opportunity to join our adult organization leading to Committee positions, leadership and eventually Board membership.

Population(s) Served

This grant proposal request $10,000. to assist the 100 Black Men of Long Beach, Inc., in developing an organizational structure consisting of a strategic initiative that will help set the course and direction for the organization. Accordingly, the organization will be looking to develop a mission and vision statement. In addition, objectives and “action items” will be developed by each representative committee.A consultant has been identified, Mr. Oscar Edwards, to lead the retreat. Mr. Edwards, who comes with many years of experience, will facilitate the retreat. A bio. Listing his qualifications and experiences is attached as part of this application.While there are four mandated committees of the 100, additional committees are proposed as the needs and situation of each chapter dictate. The primary thrust of the retreat will be a focus on the four standard committees: Education; Mentoring; Health and Wellness and Economic Development. A full listing of all committees is listed in the appendix to this grant proposal.

Each committee will develop detailed and specific goals and objectives
Each committee will develop action items with measurable standards
Committee will develop short and long range budget projections
Members, as a result of their involvement and participation in the retreat, will become more strategically focused and involved in the work of the 100 Black Men of Long Beach, Inc.

The tentative strategic plan, goals and action items will be communicated to the greater community for review and assessment
Based on the community’s recommendations, goals, objectives and action items will be refined and finalized.
