What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
School Building
Provide financial support to complete the
2 school buildings and supporting facilities.
Water and Sanitation
Provided funds for the digging of borehole (water pump) and the building of ventilated improved pit latrines. The purpose of the water project is to provide water that meets portable water quality standards to the school and the surrounding community. The existing water well at the school is too shallow hence it has dried out. Drinking water is currently transported by ox from a distant source. The new borehole is expected to provide safe drinking water that will also be used for irrigation of the school garden. It is expected that safe drinking water will help reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases such as dysentery among the students and the surrounding community. The proximity of the new well to the school will also result in reduced time and effort in obtaining portable water for the students.
Educational Materials
Provide students with textbooks, supplies, sporting equipment, and desks. Provide teachers with supplies, books, furniture and equipment. Occuring over a three year period.
Solar Power & E-reader
Purchase and deploy solar panels to provide power for lighting and e-readers. Purchase and deliver Kindles to provide reading material.
Teacher Housing
Build housing facilities on campus for teachers. This will attract trained teachers from nearby cities as well as provide local volunteer teachers a place of residence near the school. Thus, imroving the quality of teachers in the school, improving attendace by teachers and ultimately the quality of education for the students. So far, we have built two housing units (20,000 for the first unit designed for one family and 30,000 for the second unit designed for two families)
Sister School Partnership
Partnership between Dwankhozi Basic School and Queen Anne Elementary.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our current goals include continuing to partner with the school to enhance their literacy program, to increase the number of students eligible for secondary school, to increase the number of adult women with skills needed to eradicate poverty and hunger, and to plan for and implement a Medical Clinic.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategy always includes collaboration with the community in Zambia. This is a partnership and we come alongside them as they work toward their goals in education and povery eradication.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a Board that is very familiar with development. We have an Executive Team that is dedicated to their work. We have good communication with our Program Manager in Zambia, and a Zambian Board that operates there to oversee the finances. We partner with Queen Anne Elementary School to enhance teacher-to-teacher and student-to-student interaction.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Accomplishments include three school buildings, three units of teacher housing, sanitation, clean water, school desks and supplies, sponsorship of secondary school students, sponsorship of teachers toward becoming certified, installation of solar panels and lights, launching of the WorldReader ereader program.
Our future goals include more textbooks, an increase in solar power, a Medical Clinic, agricultural initiatives, and further work in the area of adult education and literacy.
