Mission

The mission of the American Center for School Choice, advocating expansion of public support for families to choose the schools they believe will best serve their children, is rooted in two basic propositions:     the education of the child is a fundamental responsibility of the family and;     enabling parents to choose the school that will best help them to fulfill this responsibility will strengthen families, schools and communities.

May Superman Pray? The Role of Faith-based Schools in School Choice

This was the Center's annual national conference, held April 1, 2011 at U of California, Berkeley. A summary and videos of the sessions are available at www.amcsc.org(http://www.amcsc.org) .

Population(s) Served

The Commission is composed of ecumenical leaders representing the majority of faiths that operate schools in the U.S. and collaborates to inject the importance of full parental choice in education into the national dialogue. The Commission’s two immediate tasks are to: 1) expand public understanding and appreciation of the role of faith-based schools in American education, especially in low-income communities; and, 2) address the need for expanding publicly funded school choice to increase a family’s ability to choose from among a full range of options, including a faith-based school.
