Mission

Domestic Harmony Foundation (DHF) is a community-based organization committed to promoting peace, safety, and harmony in families by providing support and guidance. DHF aims to fill the immense void in concrete services for South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim women and children who are seeking relief from domestic violence and other human rights violations. DHF also works towards addressing and raising awareness of domestic abuse and violations of human rights in the communities and areas we serve. Although DHF works mainly with Muslim women who are victims of domestic violence, these services are available to individuals irrespective of creed, culture, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

Individual supportive counseling

Individual supportive counseling involves the daily casework carried out by individual members and volunteers of the Domestic Harmony Foundation. DHF provides counseling and support services, safety planning, legal referrals, translation assistance, and emergency financial assistance to women and families affected by domestic violence. DHF also runs a helpline though which people can set up appointments with a caseworker or find out information in a safe and secure manner.

Population(s) Served

DHF runs support group meetings for survivors of domestic violence.  Weekly meetings encourage participants to share their experiences and learn from each other as they all work to move on.

Population(s) Served

DHF runs summer youth groups for adolescents in the community, including co-survivors of domestic violence.  The youth groups feature a series of workshops, discussions, and leadership exercises that aim to support the development of strong and confident leaders in our community.

Population(s) Served

DHF offer free English classes to local women in order to foster independence and assist them as they work towards participating more fully in their communities.
