Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The mission of Promoting an Enduring Peace is to conduct peace education promoting the advent of a harmonious planetary commonwealth through the convergence of the worldwide movements for disarmament, social justice, and environmental stewardship as the foundation of a sustainable peace. Motto: "Peace on Earth - Peace with Earth".
Civilization is reaching the culmination of its unsustainable course, which is initiating our planet's sixth mass extinction and which constitutes the greatest danger to peace and to life in general. To transition to a sustainable world system, in which the welfare of all sentient beings is considered as well as humanity. Achieving this goal entails a partial fusion of the movements for international peace, socioeconomic justice, and environmental harmony.

Promoting Enduring Peace (PEP) was founded in 1952 as a US-based tax-exempt membership organization to conduct peace education and citizen diplomacy intended to counteract the forces then moving the world toward a global thermonuclear cataclysm. To that end PEP has conducted peace education campaigns spanning decades, bridging oceans, and transcending ideologies, and has promoted large-scale citizen diplomacy to bring together people from nations in conflict to discover their common humanity and thus overcome the distrust, fear, and hatred used to foment war. Over the decades PEP has sponsored historic conferences, published original works, and annually recognized distinguished peacemakers by bestowing the Gandhi Peace Award to foster admiration for extraordinary devotion to the cause of peace and nonviolent social progress.

Annual presentation of the Gandhi Peace Award and the Shafer Peace Lecture. Publication of the daily and weekly PeaceNews updates and website. Development of peace education curriculum and conference emphasizing the interaction of global peace, social justice, and environmental harmony. Citizen diplomacy in cooperation with established citizen diplomacy travel groups.

Gandhi Peace Award progress: continued acceptance of award by internationally significant "peace heroes"; increasing attendance at Award Presentation Ceremony; worthy contributions to peace of Award Laureates in succeeding years.
PeaceNews: increasing number of subscribers and pageviews; positive rate of increase in both; increasing number of participants in submitting materials to be evaluated.
Citizen diplomacy: negotiations to create citizen diplomacy alliance.
