Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Primary clinic program

We provide medical work for the area of Petit Goave, Haiti, an area of 150,000 people that have very basic medical care. This is based out of the small community of Lakul.

Population(s) Served

Traveling to three main remote, mountainous areas within Haiti, we provide the only health care in the immediate region. This program is an ongoing program to connect remote villages that have never received care to compassionate heath care and the love of Christ. Thousands of dollars of medication and supplies are taken into the most remote parts of Haiti during these outreach programs.

Population(s) Served

After uncovering a pocket of iodine deficiency and cretinism in the remote mountains of Haiti, we began a treatment program. This disease causes sever mental retardation in these mountains and is prevented with only one pill a year.

Population(s) Served

Pastors in the remote areas of Haiti work throughout their lives in ministry without any training. We provide basic biblical training to these individuals to further reach those who are located in the most remote areas. This multiplies our effectiveness in reaching the unreached many times over.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goals Include:
To provide ongoing healthcare to multiple remote villages in Haiti. Specifically the regions of Potino on the central plateau and Patmos in the southern mountains.
Providing biblical teaching to remote Haitian pastors. Improving the ability of local rural pastors and church leaders to minister to the people they care for spiritually. Improving spiritual and biblical knowledge in these rural areas. Specifically in the Jean Rebel, Fon Doux and Potino areas.
Provide iodine supplementation to the schools and young women in villages in and around Patmos, Haiti. Also our goal is to decrease iodine deficiency diseases, including cretinism and goiter in this region
To provide ongoing community health education to the people in and around the Grand valley area of Haiti.

To achieve these things we do the following:
Longitudinal mobile clinics are undertaken in multiple remote areas of Haiti. These mobile clinics return to the same areas multiple times a year to better care for the people of the surrounding villages. These efforts are combined with community health teaching in the areas. During these clinics patients are selected, who are unable to pay to access the current medical system, for surgical teams who travel to Haiti multiple times a year to perform operations

Pastor/Leader training is undertaken in multiple different villages twice a year. Pastors and church leaders of rural churches, most of whom have never had any formal training, meet for week long interactive sessions to learn biblical topics and leadership.

Iodine supplementation is done using iodized oil capsules given to school aged children and young women yearly in and around the mountainous region of Patmos. This prevents iodine deficiency disease in the school aged children.

Community health development is done in the grand valley region of southern Haiti and in conjunction with pastor training and medical clinics. This follows the model of Community Health Evangelism (CHE)

We have experience working in these regions, a history working with the people of these villages and the trust of local community leaders.
We have multiple missionary personnel who live and work in Haiti, speak the local language and know much about the local culture.
There is a small base of operations with all equipment and materials for the ministries of AFH are securely held. This is also where the missionary staff live and work out of.

Progress so far is as follows:
Since 2008 we have been providing longitudinal, ongoing medical care for two different remote regions of Haiti. We have developed strong relationships with the church and community leaders of the area and they have found a improvement in the health of the population
Since 2010 we have done multiple training sessions yearly that have been well received. Multiple men and community leaders have had improved ministries to their communities through this program.
Community Health development has now been launched in the grand valley region after a great amount of planning.
Surgically, hundreds of patients with curable diseases have found treatment.
