Global Child Advocates
Every child protected from trafficking and exploitation, within a loving family.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
GCA is working to resolve the root causes behind orphanhood and human trafficking through direct intervention in Thailand and Myanmar. And in places where children are most vulnerable to trafficking, where governments are shutting down children’s homes, we are catalyzing a movement of foster care, adoption, and family reunification.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Holistic Child Protection
By strengthening the systems around children, we can better protect children from abuse, trafficking and institutionalization. Children within healthy families, within strong communities which have adequate government protections will be much safer than children removed from those systems for care.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to see every child protected in a loving family.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
GCA is a team of dedicated child protection specialists who ensure every vulnerable child is protected from trafficking and orphanhood. In Thailand and Myanmar we are pioneering programs which empower families. Globally we partner with local initiatives which cultivate safe families.
Our teams on the ground strengthen families to be the best line of defense for their own children. We intervene in cases of trafficking and orphanhood through temporary safe shelter and restorative care with the goal of placing every child back into a safe family as soon as possible.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our team has been working in child protection on the Thai-Myanmar border for 12 years. It is comprised of 40 Burmese and Thai nationals who are highly trained in child protection. They work in collaboration with a local child protection network of agencies and with the local child welfare department.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Over the last 11 years, we've supported hundreds of families to stay together through our support services which has also provided protection for countless children in their care. We've placed many children into safe loving families and continue to pursue families for more children needing homes. Every year, we provide shelter and protection to survivors of abuse or trafficking in our Emergency Shelter. We have trained over 2,000 child welfare professionals to provide better care and protection for orphaned and vulnerable children. We will continue in our mission in Thailand while equipping many more advocates for children in the years to come.
