Mission

MISSIONS DEFINED
The missions ministry is the ongoing, redemptive work of Jesus Christ in the world through His Church. World Missions may be defined as those endeavors outside of the church in the community and world that fulfill Christ’s command given in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:15. Christ commanded that His Church was to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel, make disciples, baptize believers, and teach them to observe all that He commanded.
VISION SUMMARY
Messiah Missions seeks to minister through preaching, teaching, and healing ministries. Messiah Missions strives to form culturally relevant congregations comprised of maturing disciples of Jesus Christ who will evangelize and reproduce themselves within their own cultures and across cultural boundaries (2 Timothy 2:2) and call believers to the deeper work of God in the human heart of being cleansed from all sin and filled with the Holy Spirit by faith (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Ultimately, our calling is to systematically increase the effectiveness of reaching the unreached, pastoring the unpastored, and nurturing the destitute to be victorious disciples of Christ.
Messiah Missions currently supports and empowers indigenous pastors, evangelists and church planters for more effective ministry to people in their own community and culture. In an expression of the diversity/unity principle of the universal Body of Christ, Messiah Missions facilitates cross-cultural partnerships between the Church of more fortunate means, to help impoverished national missionaries in developing nations.
Messiah Missions shares the heart of Christ for the cause of the poor and needy. We hold to the biblical mandate of compassion for the poor. Through partnership, Christians with plenty have the privilege of wisely helping needy saints in the destitute places of the world.
PRACTICAL METHODS
The leadership of Messiah Missions have given themselves to the purpose of world evangelization, inasmuch as we are called or able. We extend our hand of fellowship to other Christians, inviting them to share in this vision through faithful stewardship of prayer, training, discipling, and giving. Together we can cause God's vision to become reality by:
-Providing support for the indigenous pastors and the needy of each mission area-Establishing permanent and self-sustaining missions outreaches -Raising up and equipping indigenous leaders to fulfill the five-fold ministry -Developing and cultivating unity among established missions of all fields
Additionally, Messiah Missions is committed to developing and continuing long-standing relationships with mission’s affiliates who are not members of our immediate organization. The openness of our mission’s vision to include those beyond our own membership, which enlarges and enriches our world mission’s perspective and allows Messiah Missions to be a part in the mission’s efforts of other local churches world-wide.
AUTOCHTHONOUS LEADERSHIP
Messiah Missions has formal partnership agreements with mission organizations overseas; an approved leader in each of these organizations serves as the field representative. The organization provides the means to recommend nationals worthy of support, distribute funds, gather reports, and provide local oversight and accountability.
FIELD REPRESENTATIVES
Field Representatives are missions ambassadors who have agreed to serve as “co-labors” in their various fields of labor. Appointed by the leadership of Messiah Missions, they share in the vision and help cultivate deeper relationships with indigenous ambassadors in the same field. Field Representatives must be able and willing to invest time and energy into other missions and ambassadors and to help in communication between all involved parties.
PASTORAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
The leadership of Messiah Missions recognizes the broad-reaching scope of missions and missions ambassadors affiliated with Messiah Missions. Over the years, many strong relationships will have been cultivated with pastors and other Christian leaders who have been blessed with deep wisdom and understanding in matters related to world missions.
The Pastoral Advisory Council is a group of such ministers that have agreed to be advisors to the Messiah Missions. By expressing their wisdom and knowledge in potential trouble areas, by helping with new mission’s ambassador candidate approval, and by giving insight on national and international mission’s trends, these ministers help the Missions Team do their job with a broader ministry perspective.
