CAPITOL COMMISSION INC
Gospel Hope & Spiritual Strength for Government Leaders
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The legislators leaders of our states need spiritual guidance when deciding on laws. Not that CC tries to influence the issues or bills but merely gives Biblical insight into God's wisdom and his ways. Just as Wilberforce, in the English Parliament, changed the world by helping enact the legislation which abolished the slave trade in the English empire because of his fundamental Christian worldview, we strive to teach God's word and wisdom through regular Bible study and counsel for the legislators. The prayers for our political leaders are very important. It is important to God and it is important for the legislators to know that they are being prayed for. Their positions can be very lonely and full of pressures from their political party, their constituents, and their family. Pray1Tim2 not only reminds people to pray but it also facilitates the users to communicate with their leaders and tell them that they are being prayed for through email, Facebook, Twitter, or Text.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Bible Studies,
Bible studies are conducted in each of the 23 state capitols we presently serve.
Prayers for Leaders in Authority
In addition to prayers offered in each of the capitol buildings where our State Ministers serve we have an internet presence which people can view at and add their prayers for their Leaders in Authority; see www.pray1tim2.org(http://www.pray1tim2.org) Program below.
Pastors Commission to the Capitol
All pastors in a state and partners of Capitol Commission are invited to participate in a day of fellowship, challenge, prayer and meeting with their state legislators in the capitol. Guest Speakers from around the state or country are invited to speak at a luncheon or dinner that is held honoring God and blessing of the legislators by the pastors.

Our Internet Website Programs are designed to get the nation praying for their public leaders as St. Paul reminded Christians to do in his first letter to his young coworker, Timothy. That is why the website is based on the scripture of 1Tim2:1-4. Visitors to this website may choose their U.S. State and on that state page they will see political leaders to pray for. They may also chose pull up all of the political leaders for that state and look at their picture and pray for them individually or collectively. While visiting their state page they may sign up to receive a weekly or monthly email reminding them of who to pray for that day.
They can also sign up to receive emails each day with six of their state leaders to pray for or they can review them in Twitter or Face Book postings for each of the 50 states. Also offered at: www.publicservantsprayer.org(http://www.publicservantsprayer.
Discipleship
Salvation of those who have not yet put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
Political leaders, like all people, need the forgiveness of sins and the new life that comes through putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ. "God our Savior . . . . wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2:3b-4). Praying for the salvation of political leaders should be a top priority in a Christian’s life (Acts 4:10-12; Romans 10:9).

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Capitol Commission (CC), founded in 2009, is committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ in the Capitol communities of the world, as well as following the Biblical mandate of praying for our elected officials. CC’s mission is to reach the Capitol community for Christ, one person at a time, to disciple them, and to prepare them for a lifetime of ministry.
We serve almost 3,700 legislators, 15,000 staff, and over 25,000 lobbyists.
Our aim is to improve the political welfare of our nation through a Biblical allegiance to the central doctrines of Christianity. The words of Wm Wilberforce, the 18th C. Christian and member of the British Parliament encourage us. “Conviction of these doctrines gives rise to true affections for spiritual things. It breaks the power of pride, greed and fear, and it transforms the morals of an entire nation. If true Christianity gains ground, ‘there is no estimating the effects on public morals, and the consequent influence on our political welfare.’
Our goal at Capitol Commission is committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ in the Capitol communities of the world as well as following the Biblical mandate of praying for our elected officials nationwide.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The passion of the CC State Ministers and national staff is the Great Commission mandate (Mt.28:19-20) and seeing it carried out among our nation’s leaders. Through the process of evangelizing, establishing, and equipping legislators and others who work in state capitols across the nation, we believe God will change hearts and advance His Kingdom for His glory.
Another aspect, is the ministry of presence and relationship development. Therefore, our State Ministers spend significant time in the capitol and visiting the legislators in their districts. While in the state capitol, legislators are often away from their families, churches, accountability partners and friends. The pressures of politics, from their political party, public opinion, the media, lobbyists, and constituents, can cause legislators to legislate apart from a Biblical worldview. The presence of our ministers also gives legislators the opportunity and encouragement to share their struggles, anxieties and fears.
Pray1Tim2.org is promoted at every public relations event, our website, our newsletters, and our emails. We have had over 2,000 people sign up to receive emails from Pray1Tim2.org. Unfortunately, people do unsubscribe because they don't want to get another email and/or they don't want to spend the time praying. We persevere in our efforts to get people to sign up and pray. Our CC President, State Ministers, and Board of Directors are very active in utilizing and promoting Pray1Tim2.org.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our leaders and staff are well educated and have had many years of experience. . It is a very deliberate process we have undertaken to find states where we are wanted, and where we can provide a man dedicated to achieving our goals. CC strives to communicate with the Capitol community by way of the internet. A basic website (www.capitolcom.org) has been maintained and improved upon. Sub pages : our mission, Statement of Faith, welcome from our president, and his biography.
The Home page consolidates the latest CC news from across the states. Bible Studies are posted and when scheduled. Upcoming events are also posted. The website content is interactively supported by the state ministers who post information, videos, pictures, and news of upcoming events without depending on a central staff. CC is on the Social Media; not to promote a political agenda but to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Prayer requests for legislators are regularly posted to Facebook and Tweeted.
Pray1Tim2.org has a link at the top of our home page capitolcom.org. It is easy to add this link to our communications. It is easy, with today's technology, to demonstrate Pray1Tim2.org at church meetings, fund raising dinners, and on an ipad or laptop. Technically, we utilize one of the best web services, and it is written a very high level language which makes modifying it very easy. We recently added daily scripture or wisdom words at a very low cost.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Capitol Commission (CC) has accomplished the establishment of a ministry which is recognized as the preeminent legislative ministry in America. Its State Ministers are personally recognized in the halls of their state capitols, and sought after by people in the capitol in times of personal difficulty, grief, and illness. They often open legislative sessions in prayer.
The Bible Studies that our ministers teach impact the legislators, staff, and others in the capitol. An outline of notes of the Bible Study are delivered throughout the capitol to the many offices. They are known for what they give and known for not asking anything in return.
Political leaders, like all people, need the forgiveness of sins and the new life that comes through putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ. “God our Savior . . . wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2:3b-4). Praying for the salvation of political leaders should be a top priority in a Christian’s life.
Each time that the legislators go out of office and new ones are elected in our organization makes sure that they know about Pray1Tim2.org. We have a promotional card that we can give to them and their staffs. It is also used at churches and our events.
