What we aim to solve
ER Abroad: Mission Possible has emerged to continue that general idea: use our talents, education, training and resources to help those less fortunate. Now in our 11th year since planning the initial trip, with limited resources but great dreams, we are an ongoing charitable organization that sends healthcare workers out into the world to improve the basic health of those who otherwise would not have access to it.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
ER Abroad is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that consists of physicians, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical technicians, physical therapist and social workers that provides medical treatments and examinations in third world countries. Recently, we have expanded our range of services to provide non-medial support services as well. As our organization’s name implies, we intend to continually grow to provide a wide range of supportive care and services that an individual would likely receive from an emergency room or walk-in clinic, yet in a rural setting. Treatments that can range from the care of common ailments to minor emergency services as our available resources will dictate. Specialized care for the mind, body and spirit
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
For over 10 years now, ER Abroad: Mission Possible has been sending medical missions teams to rural areas of Guatemala on a regular basis. In so doing, ER Abroad has adapted, grown a network of support, and has developed an operational model of establishing mobile medical clinics that can be duplicated in other areas of the world. In the fall of 2019 we will have established our first international office in Antigua, Guatemala.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
ER Abroad is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that sends medical teams to rural areas in Guatemala providing healthcare through mobile clinics to those who have no access to medical care.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As we continue to grow in 2020, ER Abroad would like to continue our services in Guatemala by building an optometry clinic. A location we go on every short-term mission trip is in the region of Escuintla in Guatemala, primarily a place called the Land of Hope. This region and the people who live there have experienced natural and man-made disasters. In 2019 the volcano Fuego erupted twice and decimated the area. Hundreds of people were displaced, injured or presumed dead from this tragedy. The region is plagued by extreme poverty, malnutrition, high infant mortality and lack of access to medical and supportive services. The Land of Hope is a small parcel of land that is adjacent to one of Guatemala’s largest landfills and a small school for the local village children. This tiny community of villagers work at the landfill and have no access to healthcare except when missionaries like our organization come to visit.
