Home Repair Services

EMERGENCY HOME REPAIRS

“Emergencies” are situations that threaten a client’s well-being, including, but not limited to:
• broken water lines or lack of heat
• safety problems, such as electrical hazards or security issues
• situations that could cause further damage to the home, such as a roof leak

CRITICAL HOME REPAIRS

Critical home repairs are to correct defects threatening the safety of the occupants, integrity of the structure, functioning of the house, and/or the mobility of its occupants. Examples of critical repairs are:
• roof replacements
• plumbing system repairs
• electrical service repairs
• furnace replacements
• accessibility modifications

HOME MODIFICATIONS FOR MOBILITY

Modifications help clients live safely in their homes and assist with their mobility and independence. Some of the modifications we can provide include:
• handicapped accessible ramps
• grab bars
• bathroom modifications
• kitchen modifications, and more.

WEATHERIZATION

Clients receive a professional clean and tune of their furnace as well as a carbon monoxide check of all natural gas appliances. They also receive tips on how to keep their home more energy efficient, and energy efficient light bulbs. If needed, clients can receive additional energy saving products and services.

ELECTRIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (EPP)

Designed for customers currently on the PIPP (low income payment plan) program. Customers will develop an action plan with the help of our staff auditor that will:
• reduce their need for electricity
• make their money count
• help them reduce growth of their PIPP arrearage

Volunteers provide home repair and maintenance services to PWC clients year round. Our major volunteer events are:
• Repair Affair. Volunteers come out on one Saturday in May to provide home repairs to the homes of low-income seniors or persons with a disability.
• Prepare Affair. Volunteers come out on a Saturday in November to rake leaves, clean out gutters, and other services to help seniors or persons with a disability prepare their home for winter.
• Second Chance Saturday. One Saturday a month, volunteers come out and provide services to low-income seniors or persons with a disability.
