Mission

BRAVO operates statewide in Ohio and works to eliminate violence in the lives of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender people. BRAVO's primary areas of focus include hate crimes, domestic violence and sexual assaults. BRAVO provides support for survivors, education for the community, and advocacy on behalf of any person who has experienced violence.

BRAVO's programs and services include:
Support groups for LGBT survivors of sexual and domestic violence
- Courtroom advocacy
- Referrals for victims to other social service agencies and/or health service
agencies
- Toll-free crisis hotline service
- Crisis intervention, including emergency housing options
- Maintain contact with Columbus Division of Police and provide assistance to victims in accessing criminal justice system
- Document acts of violence (anti-gay hate crimes, sexual assault, and/or same sex domestic violence), gather statistical data and compile for national annual reports
- Provide cultural sensitivity training workshops. Provide educational lectures, workshops, etc. on LGBT issues to various social service agencies, schools, government agencies, institutions of faith, corrections facilities, conferences.
