What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

We are aiming to address several needs:
1. After natural and manmade disasters, victims suffer from physical, emotional and spiritual needs which, if left unmet, can lead to fatalities, injuries and/or PTSD.
2. Many leaders today, in all segments of society, are facing new and increasing challenges and pressures to compromise on moral and ethical matters which can lead to both individual and corporate crises if they are not equipped to properly overcome those challenges.
3. Communities across the country face a variety of issues negatively impact individuals, families and the community at large; things like racial strife, lack of resources, and lost hope can devastate a region and its residents.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

1. Respond to both natural and manmade disasters by providing tangible aid, crisis and trauma chaplaincy, as well as spiritual hope to help individuals and communities recover and rebuild their lives.
2. Provide leaders, across racial, denominational and industry lines, with training how to personally and professionally address a myriad of challenges facing them in our culture so they can persevere and finish well.
3. Equip, empower and encourage local churches and agencies to work in unity to address unmet needs, foster reconciliation, and inspire hope in their community through unified efforts of prayer as well as compassionate outreach.

1. We partner with local churches in areas affected by disaster, equipping them with food, water, and other essentials needed for immediate response; mobilize skilled teams as well as resources for long-term recovery; and send chaplains to crises areas to comfort residents and first responders. SCA also offers a variety of disaster preparedness resources so individuals, families, churches and organizations can be prepared for disasters they may experience.
2. We offer a variety of training opportunities throughout the year, around the country, for leaders. In addition to training, we offer leadership resources that can be used by individuals as well as in group training settings.
3. We provide counsel and training to partners desiring to see transformation in their communities. Some of this is done on a national level, bringing partners together from across the country so they can learn from one another; and some is done in local communities helping partners address issues in they face at the grass roots level.

1.Somebody Cares has a broad network of churches, ministries, as well as local and national organizations that collaborate together to facilitate disaster relief. We also have seasoned disaster responders with years of experience serving as point people in reach response.
2.SCA has relationships with a wide array of seasoned, successful, godly leaders that are willing to participate in leadership training for people of influence. Through out broad network of churches and ministries we also have contact with thousands of leaders across all segments of society that are looking to be better equipped for the issues they face.
3. Somebody Cares has decades of experience in community transformation and is a recognized leader in empowering churches to work together across racial and denominational lines to see positive impact in their communities.

1. Somebody Cares has responded to earthquakes, wildfires, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornados, as well as several mass casualty events for several decades. In 2017 alone SCA provided food, water, hot meals, shelter assistance, cleaning supplies, building supplies, volunteer teams, chaplaincy care and more in response to Hurricanes Harvey, Ike and Marie as well as to the Mexico earthquakes. At the writing assistance is still be provided in response to Harvey and Marie.
2. SCA formalized our leadership training a few years ago with the production of our Leadership Awakening DVD training series which lead to the publication of Doug STringer's Leadership Awakening book. The principles in these resources provide the basis for the training. Last year several Leadership Awakening training opportunities were provided across the country. They have been well received and leaders who attended those gatherings have invited us to bring the training to their communities.
3. SCA has active chapters working towards community transformation in Baltimore, Tampa, St. Augustine, Houston, Southeast Texas, Picayune, St. Antonio, Dennison, Haverhill, and Denver. We also responding to requests for assistance in additional communities in Texas, Florida and New England.
