What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Global Classrooms for Peace sends active American K-12 teachers to emerging countries identified as ?threshold countries? by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). These MCC vetted countries have demonstrated that they rule justly, invest in their people, and encourage economic freedom.
Each teacher is required to complete an on-line course about the history and culture of the host country before departure. During the two-week program, teachers spend the first week at a pre-selected school in a host country co-teaching a cultural understanding class and the second week touring and learning about the country while contributing to the local tourism economy.
Upon returning to the United States, the American teachers and their counterpart continue a cross cultural communication through the Oracle Education Foundation?s safe online learning environment, www.think.com.
Each selected country will receive annual visits from different American teachers over a five-year commitment. The schools will differ as the program sets to build access to technology and a broader cultural understanding throughout the host country. The economic impact to each participating country will average US$180,000 per school community each year.
