Mission

Each year Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program builds capacity to combat PTSD in dozens of American cities, in the clinical services of the VA and Department of Defense, and in developing countries of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. 
 
EMDR is a highly effective evidence-based psychotherapy, especially effective in overcoming Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a condition affecting large numbers of people after community-wide or personal disasters, as well as combat veterans and children and adults in disadvantaged communities.

Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs' volunteers are professional mental health educators and clinicians dedicated to teaching this method to local clinicians in the US and around the world, and to supporting first responders in disasters. We provide our services at low fees or no fees, thanks to support of donors, grants and volunteers. No other organization addresses this need. (Without effective treatment, PTSD is painful in itself and can lead to high incidence of chemical dependency, anxiety, and other emotional disorders with extended economic, social and intergenerational costs.)
