Mission

The overall mission of the Taiwanese Citizens
League is to enhance the quality of life for Taiwanese Americans. Through
L.I.N.C, our work is largely devoted to:Leadership
Instilling leadership qualities to enrich the quality of life of ourselves and
the communities we serve, while also increasing our visibility.
IdentityBuilding an understanding of Taiwanese American heritage, encouraging pride in
Taiwanese American identity, advocating for issues pertinent to Taiwanese
Americans, and helping to contribute to a Taiwanese American culture ever
richer in its diversity.NetworkingNetworking with other Taiwanese American, Asian and Pacific Islander, minority
and other citizens, as a means of empowerment, to gain respect from and
equality with all Americans.
Citizenship/Culture/CommunityHelping to instill in our community a greater sense of citizenship, stressing
both the responsibilities and rights that come with it, so that all may share
in the task of forging a strong future and the benefits that follow.

Taiwanese American Professionals

TAP's mission is to enhance the Taiwanese-American community by networking individuals interested in professional and career development, while emphasizing the preservation of Taiwanese American identity. TAP provides resources and programs that inspire and empower; develop and support professionals to become community-oriented leaders.  TAP website: http://tap.tacl.org

Population(s) Served

Taiwanese American Citizens League has sponsored several internships at various offices with the goal of stimulating and promoting long-term interest in all areas of service, both private and public.  The internship has since focused specifically on non-profit and piblic/governmental offices to develop leaders within our community.  Click here for more information on SIP.(http://tacl.org/programs/tacl-political-internship)

The Journalism Internship program is co-sponsored by Pacific Times, a Taiwanese American weekly newspaper based in Rosemead, California. The purpose of the program is to provide a learning experience for talented Taiwanese American youth who may choose journalism or media as their career. Journalism interns learn firsthand, the production and distribution of a newspaper and benefit from interactions with journalism and media professionals. The Leadership Identity Development (LID) program is the youth development adjunct of the Taiwanese American Citizens League. Its goals are to educate the younger Taiwanese American generation, promote culture and community, instill a sense of social responsibility and provide an atmosphere where youth can gain leadership experience and insight in the context of their heritage.  Events and activities include college admissions workshops, and summer and winter camps.   The Summer camps in the Southern California region are titled LID Camformerly TAYL.  Click here for more information on LID Camp.(http://lidcamp.org/)   Click here for information on LYF Camp(http://lyf.tacl.org/) .

Entertainment Internship (EI) is a national initiative which seeks to place aspiring Taiwanese American students and professionals into the film and television industry and impact the intersection of Taiwanese Americans in the media. TACL is committed to producing the highest quality, innovative programs for the advancement of the quality of life and participation in greater society amongst Taiwanese Americans.  The EI program is a forum wherein young activists can explore and foster Taiwanese identity in a meaningful and impacting way that has long standing effects in the mainstream community and can lead to career choices not often promoted in the Taiwanese American community.  Click here for more information on EI(http://tacl.org/classic/programs/entertainment/) .
