ASRL's program works in a most innovative way, as does the foundation's business model that allows for nearly unlimited expansion. Its innovative method relies on the due diligence of hospital social workers to identify and screen families in need and to provide urgent financial assistance within 24 hours. ASRL assists by bringing media opportunities and connections with donors for fundraising efforts.

In partnership with six pediatric hospitals in California and six more nationally, ASRL has helped nearly 15,000 family members in the past ten years with grants totaling over $3.6 million. In California alone, the impact has been staggering providing more than $1 million in immediate aid, the largest percentage to any state. Without ASRL's support, many children in California and beyond would face pain, treatments, fear and even death without a parent by their side.
