Mission

THE ACTIVE HAND Ministry believes the key to solving community issues is by preparing our youth as future leaders and forming grassroots organizations that connect individuals, organizations, municipalities and law makers with the impoverished needs of the community. If we didn't train our youth as future leaders and put them in strategic positions of leadership, poor people would remain in their spiritual, social and economical conditions. THE ACTIVE HAND Ministry realizes that poor and marginalized people in the Greater Richmond area, the Tri-City area and surrounding counties can effect change in their conditions if they invest in their youth through structured leadership programs and by forming grassroots agencies that will demand those changes in their communities.

At Risk youths need to know that there exists alternatives to teenage violence, failing health and dismal career choices. Our children are At Risk youths who are vulnerable to misconceptions about their health, safety, and future employment opportunities. Our Fishing For Respect program's goal is that 80% of At Risk youths, in our program, will benefit by activities such as, sport fishing and anti violence training. If we neglect to train and place our youths in strategic positions of leadership, to make health a fun activity, then our At Risk youths will remain in their spiritual, social and economical conditions. Our Programs show At Risk youths How To Escape Doom And Gloom By Fun, Health, And Respect! At Risk youths have seen enough doom and gloom. Just in the month of September 2012 alone, Richmond Virginia had the largest increase of murders since early 2000. At Risk youths need to have fun but not without learning Respect! We schedule our programs out to work with your group. In some cases we use a sliding fee basis.
