Preservation of artifacts and history interpretation/education

Maintenance and restoration of historical buildings- Perkins Stone Mansion, John Brown House, exhibits and artifacts for the public. This does not include public programming.

Development and delivery of educational programs, publications regarding Summit County, OH and local cities, classes, and, tours.

The Society offers outreach programs every Friday June - August called Farm Fridays geared for pre-K through sixth grade; 4th grade presentations on our Native American and Canal history, free Discovery Trunks, outreach programs for active adults (Remember When) and free onsite activities at our historic structures.

Annual special events include the sheep returning to Mutton Hill with programming June through October; Community Talk Back focusing on African American History in Akron and Summit County; our Family Fun Day is held annually to celebrate the Society's anniversary with the centennial coming up in 2024 and the Rubber City Road Rally, a fundraiser that takes guests on a route through a portion of Summit County to educate them on our area.
