What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Summer Academy
The Summer Academy is a 7-week summer program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Academy provides a balance of academic classes and recreational experiences in an effort to descrease summer learning loss while developing self-esteem and respect for others.
African American History
African-American History Program is a history and cultural education curriculum designed to enhance the study of African-American history among students in grades 6-12. Participants meet weekly after school with their team leader and compete against other teams in city-wide academic competitions.
Beautillion Militaire
Beautillion Militaire is a college readiness and rite of passage for young men in grades 11-12. The purpose of the program is to increase academic achievement, personal development, civic engagement, ethnic pride and leadership skills by surrounding the Beaus with positive role models and mentors. At the culmination of the 16-week program, the Beaus participate in a formal black tie event where they receive scholarships based upon points earned during their participation in the program.
Scholastic Sports
Scholastic Sports is a mentoring program for students in 3rd - 5th grade that is based on the sports of Basketball and Track/Field. Through weekly practices and mentoring sessions, students learn sport fundamentals as well as responsibility, leadership skills and teamwork. Students in the program are recognized and rewarded based on their academic effort, attendance and behavior rather than athletic ability.
Financial Literacy
High School students in the Financial Literacy program meet weekly for sessions led by a University of Indianapolis professor and their 100 Black Men mentors/tutors. The 16-week curriculum teaches students how to manage and investing money as well as how to develop, monitor and assess an investment portfolio.
