aka AKA EAF   |   Chicago, IL   |  www.akaeaf.org

Mission

Our mission is to promote lifelong learning. This is accomplished by securing charitable contributions, gifts and endowed funds to award scholarships, fellowships and Community Assistance Awards. We serve as a resource to which individuals and organizations can turn to complete a program of study, to obtain seed money to transform an idea into reality or to embark on a research project. We serve internationally and have awarded scholarships and community assistance grants across the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia and India.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our organization exists to support members, chapters and donors with an established administrative structure to collect, manage and disburse scholarships, fellowships and grants. Using contributions from these varying groups, it is our primary mission to promote lifelong learning by financially supporting students pursuing their higher educational goals. We also assist community organizations with programs that benefit the less fortunate within local communities.

With this HBCU Endowment Fund program, we partnered with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. We are committed to the sustainability of HBCUs by establishing a named endowment on the campus of every four-year accredited Historically Black College and University in the United States.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The goals of the Educational Advancement Foundation are to continue to grow the Foundation's assets, expand our corporate and private donor base, increase our endowment portfolio and offer scholarship awards totaling more than $500,000 each year to students pursuing their higher educational goals.

We achieve our goals by creating and maintaining solid, relatable programs and initiatives. We have an improved marketing strategy whereby we utilize technology such as email communications, social media, and an updated and refreshed website to generate excitement and interest in our philanthropic efforts. We also stay in contact with our former scholarship recipients, members and corporate sponsors by expressing our thanks at their ongoing support.

We have a membership of over 77,000 college educated women and their network of professionals that support and assist us in meeting our goals. We are governed by a strong, active Board of Directors who come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. We are also supported by a team of 10 Regional Coordinators who are responsible for communicating and promoting the Foundation in their respective regions.

Since our inception in 1980, we have awarded over $5Million in scholarships, fellowships and community assistance grants to students and community organizations around the world. We have a solid foundation to support higher education for years to come.
