Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Youth Leadership Development, Advocacy, Culture & Arts, Social Service
1) New American Initiative Citizenship Program: Assists 30 community members in applying for citizenship each month and assists an additional 40 per month via telephone consultations. Civics classes and tutoring also are offered to clients who are preparing for their citizenship exams.
2) English as a Second Language/ESL Classes: Beginners and intermediate classes offered quarterly with 20 community members served per quarter. Students improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills while also learning about the American government.
3) Translation/interpretation Services: These services are offered free of charge to community members with about 300 community members served each year.
4) Youth Program: KRCC offers an after school program for high school students two days a week and every weekday during the summer months. This program attracts 60 youth each year.
5) Building Sisterhood: Educates Korean and Asian girls/young women about gender issues. 15 girls/young women participate each year.
6) Low Income Tax Clinic: Teaches community members their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers through forums and one-on-one consultations. Assists community members in applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit. This program serves almost 1,000 community members each year.
7) Culture Program: Includes the Lunar New Year Celebration, the Korean Street Festival, at least twenty five traditional Korean drumming performances and youth workshops. This work reaches over 10,000 people per year.
8) Immigrant and Human Rights Project: Strives to educate and organize community members around immigrant and human rights issues. Through outreach efforts, this project reaches over 10,0000 community members per year.
9) Project Participate: Includes voter registration, education, operation of a voter hotline, get out the vote and exit polling for federal, state and city elections. This project reaches over 5,000 communtiy members during election years.
