Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Bnai Mitzvah Consultations

Areyvut works one-on-one with Bnai Mitzvah students and their families to find or develop meaningful social action projects that best meet their interests. Bnai Mitzvah Fair: Areyvut tailors Bnai Mitzvah fairs to meet the specific needs of schools, synagogues and community centers. Agency representatives present their missions and volunteer opportunities to students and their families. Fairs can also include hands on activities that allow students to experience chesed first hand.

Population(s) Served

Areyvut has been working in the area of Jewish teen philanthropy for three years.  Currently, we are building a Jewish teen philanthropy program for a local Jewish day school in Paramus, NJ.  We will be working with teens to introduce them to what the local needs are in their community, learn about Requests for Proposals (RFP's), taking them on site visits and ultimately having them work together as a group to allocate funds to one or more local agencies.

Population(s) Served

Each year Areyvut recognizes our national day of service, "Make a Difference" Day.  Held in March, "Make a Difference" Day serves to get people from all walks of life involved in giving back to their community for one day.  This year's theme for "Make a Difference" Day is Hunger and Poverty.  We have a number of projects both locally and nationally that will be taking place throughout "Make a Difference" Day weekend to affect change in these areas.

Population(s) Served

For the past five years Areyvut has welcomed summer interns to the office for roughly six weeks from June to mid July.  Over the course of the last two summers, Areyvut has established a formal Summer Internship Program in which high school and college age students work along side Areyvut staff in developing programs, creating educational materials and working on innovative programming.

In addition to joining the team, interns join Areyvut staff on weekly visits to other nonprofit organizations.  It is through these trips that the interns are exposed to other nonprofit organization structure, are introduced to experts in the field and partake in hands-on volunteering.
