What we aim to solve
ADED: The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, promotes safe and independent community mobility. ADED's professional members assist drivers with disabilities and the aging. ADED has created a Best Practice Guidelines for the Provision of Driver Rehabilitation Services publication and is the only organization to offer the Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) certification. ADED offers its members continuing education, networking, mentoring and a quarterly newsletter. Non-members and those interested in working in the field of driver rehabilitation are welcome to attend ADED courses, workshops and annual conference. Annual Conference & Exhibits
Annual conference & exhibits for providers of driver rehabilitation professionals. Conference offers continuing education towards certification renewal. Exhibits offers interaction and education with manufacturers and installation professionals of adaptive driving equipment and vehicle modifyers.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. Reframe the identity of driver rehabilitation as a specialty within targeted professional groups. \n2. Educate regulators to understand that Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (CDRSs) are the preferred provider for driver evaluation, training, and licensing recommendations.\n3. Promote the value of high-quality, comprehensive driver rehabilitation services delivered by an ADED credentialed provider to key partners, referral sources, and consumers.\n4. Enhance the credentialing program to provide pathways of education that develop and recognize levels of competency within the scope of driver rehabilitation. \n5. Increase ADED membership base to strengthen volunteer and financial infrastructures and ensure regional access to driver rehabilitation services. \n6. Assure proactive exploration in anticipation of future trends and changes in the industry.

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
ADED's strong volunteer base is dedicated to achieving their strategic plan goals. ADED is supported by a full time executive director and staff who support member needs, connect consumers to reliable resources and keep operations running efficiently. ADED's educational offerings including annual conference bolster driver rehabilitation specialists professional development while proceeds support operating and strategic plan initiatives.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Membership, educational offerings and annual conference attendance has grown incrementally over the past 5 years. Engagement with sister organizations and contacts from consumer related organizations has increased indicating ADED's position as an expert in the field. The numbers of certified professionals, while slowing increasing, remains below threshold to meet the demands of the driving public.
