What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
-Our Transition Specialist focuses on prevention by teaching life skills and career preparation skills to middle and high school students with disabilities in five local school districts. The Transition Specialist also runs Camp KOOL (Kids Organizing Opportunities for Life). This yearly camp is for students with disabilities. The camp covers topics including self-advocacy, self-determination, goal setting, and career preparation.-The Nursing Home Transition Specialist works to help individuals transition back to the community. Building the capacity of the community to support individuals without institutionalizing them is also a key aspect of the Nursing Home Specialist’s job.-Our Employment Specialist works with Michigan Rehabilitation Services to help individuals with disabilities attain gainful employment or maintain current employment with necessary accommodations. The Employment Specialist also consults with local employers on ADA issues. -Teams of people with disabilities and other interested individuals work to identify inaccessible facilities. These teams then work with owners to make them accessible. Our Accessibility Specialist manages these teams of volunteers and acts as an ADA Consultant.
