Camps for People with Disabilities

Camp Daniel operates camps for people with mental and/or physical disabilities who are at least 8 years of age. Normal camp programs are modified in order that the disabled community may enjoy all of the benefits of an able bodied person. Fishing, swimming, races, drama skits, contests, boating, a carnival and two daily chapel services are some of the events offered. Camper to counselor ratio never exceeds 2/1. Camp Daniel provides a monthly meeting for people with disabilities and their families. The session is broken into two parts. The person with a disability and the family members. The disabled meet together for religious and social programs while the family members meet with a support group.

Policies and processes
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
