Concerts on the Square
Annually attracting tens of thousands of music lovers to the Wisconsin State Capitol Square, Concerts on the Square is a fixture of the south-central Wisconsin summer experience. For six Wednesdays in the summer, Maestro Andrew Sewell and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra perform superb classical music, popular favorites, and less-known masterpieces for their audiences. Concerts on the Square performances are known for their casual atmosphere, offerings for all ages, frequent guest artists, and positive economic impact on downtown Madison.
Masterworks
Performed at the historic Capitol Theater at Overture Center for the Arts, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's signature Masterworks series brings the best of classical music performance to Madison and south-central Wisconsin audiences. Throughout the concert series, patrons are delighted, fascinated, and even challenged by the remarkable artistry and skill of the musicians of the WCO. Each concert features one or more world-class guest artists, with a reputation for showcasing the next generation of virtuoso. Masterworks offers our community an accessible, welcoming classical music experience for all.
Music Education Programming
The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in creating opportunities for music education in the Madison community through a collection of programs that span the age range of our young audience.
Family Series Concerts: this ongoing series presents families and kids as young as toddlers with interactive concerts. They encourage moving around, making noise, and having fun, all while learning basic musical concepts.
Super Strings Program: in partnership with local community-based organizations, Super Strings provides violin lessons free of charge to elementary-aged kids who otherwise would not have access to vital music education. The program fosters musical skills and life skills.
Side by Side Project: in partnership with Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, the Side by Side project pairs high school-aged musicians with the professional musicians of the WCO for master classes and joint performance free for the community.
