Mission

The mission of Badger Boys State, Inc. is to teach young men to become better citizens and leaders and as well as to be more aware of the importance of American democracy—both now and in the future.

Notes from the nonprofit

The best thing we can say about our program is from the accomplishments of our graduates. They're Congressmen, governors, and leaders in business. Rarely has such a small group of individuals resulted in so many leaders in government and business.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We have many goals in Badger Boys State. First, we want to educate young men about the ways the American democracy functions in an entertaining, interactive environment that can't be replicated on a website or smartphone app. In doing so, we want to teach them to work with other people whom they've never met before. This "forced friendship" teaches them to work with others of different backgrounds, and doing so toward a common goal.

We've shown this works by the results from the accomplishments of our graduates. Their achievements show that they've learned an incredible amount of information in a short period of time that they've used in their everyday life for the rest of their lives.

Grouping strangers together to achieve goals, with experienced counselors has been done for over 75 years. We will continue to make this happen because is the best thing for the young men, as has been shown in the past.

Our counselors are professionals who work at a "normal" job the rest of the year, but who volunteer their time to work with the citizens at Badger Boys State. They believe in it because they've seen the results from it. They know it works because they've seen it work.

In addition, the counselors have excellent support staff in the IT people on-site, administrative personnel on site, and Ripon College staff who are there to assist in the success of the program.

The staff comes together to make the program a success, and the citizens are the results. Success isn't an accident--its experience.

We've accomplished 75 years of success, with 75 or more years to go! We have taught leadership skills to a diverse group of young men who have gone on to achieve many different leadership roles in their professional careers--the fact that 3 have gone on to become governors of Wisconsin is, in itself, a big deal.
