What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Health and Wellness
Three urban health and fitness centers in Downtown, Uptown and Midtown Minneapolis provide access to high quality facilities and a wide range of fitness classes and services. Scholarships, in the form of sliding fee-based memberships, were awarded to 4,400+ youth, adults and families.
Early Childhood Education
Full-time high-quality early childhood education uses culturally celebratory anti-bias curriculum focused on early literacy designed to meet rigorous national accreditation standards. Five Children's Centers serve 650+ children annually. Four centers are community focused serving children, 6 weeks through 9 years, from families with the highest need.
Girls and Youth
Five high-quality afterschool and summer programs serve 1,200+ youth annually preparing urban young people to be learners, leaders and creators of change so that they graduate from high school ready for college and careers. Programs take place onsite at 15+ Minneapolis Public Schools and at YWCA Community Learning Centers. Participants develop leadership and positive decision-making skills, supporting academic success and healthy lifestyles.
Racial Justice and Public Policy
Public forums, community dialogues, workshops and trainings motivate individuals to take action to improve racial equity in the community and Minnesota. Advocates raise awareness about public policy solutions to improve equity and access to high quality early childhood education and afterschool programs for girls and youth.
