Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve and promote the health of our communities by providing quality health care services that are affordable and accessible to all, including those traditionally excluded from good health care--whether due to affordability or cultural considerations. We charge uninsured patients on a sliding-fee scale, based on income and household size. Each year NHS serves over 8,000 people who make 20,000+ visits to our clinics.

Overview

At Neighborhood Health Source you can get the highest quality health care for yourself and your children, whether you're covered or not. All 4 of our clinics see patients without health insurance, with the cost based on a sliding fee scale. We can also help those eligible apply for public health insurance programs, and for those with coverage - we accept most plans.

Our clinics are staffed by highly-skilled doctors, certified nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, certified nurse-midwives and licensed psychologists. Our family and medicine physicians have completed specialty training and are board certified. Our Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives have completed advanced training and are certified in primary health care.

Community Health/Outreach

Community Health/Outreach is an integral part of our organization. NHS supports its mission by offering culturally competent programming, focused on prevention, both inside and beyond the walls of our clinic sites. We believe that health education is a valuable component in improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Therefore, in addition to delivering ambulatory primary health care services, we offer community-based support, programming, and engagement in health care and health management. Our diverse and qualified Community Health Team offers educational presentations, activities, and resources; health screenings; health consultations; and other services in the community. NHS’ community health work targets populations experiencing health disparities including high rates or risk of obesity, diabetes, breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, mental health issues, sexually transmitted diseases, unintended pregnancy, and other health conditions.
