What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Through our humanitarian programs that have been active for more then 25 years, we have already assisted over 200,000 new immigrants and other poor from our Distribution Center in Jerusalem, earning awards of recognition from the Jerusalem Municipality and the State of Israel. In addition, we help Jews emigrate from the countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU), and provide aid to those who cannot leave. Our humanitarian projects, provide for the following: 1) An organized network across the FSU locates Jewish people; assists them with their paperwork, helps them procure exit permits and passports; and helps them interface with Israeli officials for approval to immigrate to Israel; provides land transportation, as well as air and sea passage to Israel; 2) Provide aid services to poor Jews who cannot leave the FSU for medical or other reasons, including food programs, heat, clothing, and social assistance; 3) Welcome new immigrants to Israel with new blankets, baskets of new kitchen supplies, and school kits for the children; 4) Direct new immigrants to other private and governmental agencies to meet specific needs; 5) Operate a Sponsorship Program to provide for the basic needs of a new immigrant family/individual, for 1 year, until they can be trained and integrated into Israeli society, as well as poor Israelis in crisis, 6) With the cooperation of local social workers and community centers, provide weekly food parcels for new immigrants, poor Israelis and Palestinians known to be in economic crisis, 7) Provide home renovation for those immigrants placed in sub-standard housing, as well as poor Israel; especially Holocaust survivors. In the area of education, we are working to build strong interfaith relations between communities, while countering prejudice, especially anti-Semitism, through publications, and multi-media presentations
