Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The overall founding goals of our school are the following:

1. To develop the full potential of the individual
2. To realize the highest ideal of education
3. To improve governmental achievements
4. To solve the age-old problem of crime and all behavior that brings unhappiness to our world family
5. To bring fulfillment to the economic aspirations of individuals and society
6. To maximize the intelligent use of the environment
7. To achieve the spiritual goals of humanity in this generation

Consciousness-Based education was developed by the University's founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, so that students can discover the field of pure consciousness within themselves as the source of all knowledge.

Self-exploration is at the heart of an MUM education. By directly experiencing your innermost nature through the Transcendental Meditation technique, they can easily connect each discipline to their own life, and see the underlying unity of all knowledge.

Simply stated, education has been leaving out the student and their consciousness — their own state of awareness.

When we study something, three elements are involved:
-the knowledge of the field of study;
-the process of gaining knowledge;
-and you, the person gaining knowledge.

Many colleges and universities are adequate or better on the first element — covering the subject of study. And some of them improve the process through innovative teaching techniques.

But conventional universities fail to expand the learning ability of the student — to develop the consciousness of the knower.

Without this third element, universities only provide information-based education — and the information is often forgotten once the course is over.

What has been missing is a way for the student to develop themselves from within — to improve their brain functioning and enliven their full potential.

At MUM, At MUM, such self-discovery is not just an intellectual process. It's the deep, direct experience of the student's own innermost nature and the underlying reality of life.

This experience is gained through a simple, effortless procedure — the Transcendental Meditation technique. All students and faculty meditate 20 minutes, twice daily, at MUM.

MUM offers Consciousness-Based education (CBE), through which students discover how each field of study is connected at the deepest levels of life, how they connect to the student on a personal and grand scale. Through CBE learning becomes much more satisfying, relevant, and exciting.

This forms the foundation for academic study into all disciplines.

Using this approach, MUM has transformed the lives of thousands of students with both personal growth and practical academic study, preparing them for successful careers in many fields, including further academic study.

In addition we parter with academic institutions around the world in order to empower them with these technologies of consciousness and to stimulate academic study and research into the potential of these angles of study to improve both academic pursuits and the practical potentials of human experience.

We have engaged many years of study and focus on these principles and their implications in both academic and research environments, and are alert to any and all opportunities to both enhance and expand their application.

On the individual level we have achieved many or all of our goals. On the collective level we have achieved some degree of success as well, but we still have a lot to achieve if we are to expand these effects to a global scale, yet that is our chosen task and overall mission.
