Mission

Based on the teachings of Christ, Children's Foundation of Mid-America provides compassionate and therapeutic social, psychological and educational services to children and families of all faiths. Programs include Farmington Children's Home, Regional Girls' Shelter, Stubbins Memorial Regional Family & Youth Center, Moberly Community Counseling Center, Eagle Summit, Foster Care Case Management, Mentoring and Transportation and Independent Assisted Programs, Transition to Independent Living. In 2009, Children's Foundation of Mid-America touched the lives of 1527 children.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

In the time that you read this report, two more children will be abused or neglected in their homes. In Missouri, today, more than 2,000 children have been removed from their homes to keep them safe. Out of home care in Children's Foundation of Mid-America funded children's homes has made a difference since 1914. Farmington Children's Home [www.presbyterianchildren.org/fch.html] cares for older adolescent children with programs of diagnostic evaluation, residential care services (including family-focused residential care services), crisis shelter and emergency care, independent living services, educational support and residential treatment services (including intensive residential services for adolescents). Counseling is available for families when the family is willing to participate. Regional Girls' Shelter [www.presbyterianchildren.org/rgs.html]is a group home and residential care center for adolescent females. Independent living services, plus socialization and educational support are parts of the program; and counseling is available for families when the family is willing to participate. Stubbins Memorial Regional Family & Youth Center [www.presbysterianchildren.org/syc.html] offers group home services for adolescent children. Socialization and educational support is included, and counseling is available for families when the family is willing to participate. Foundations, a community-based service center in northwest Missouri offers Mentor services to children who are falling behind in social and academic development or are at risk of neglect or abuse. Midwest Learning Center, on Farmington Children's Home campus, gives children more individualized attention than public school systems normally can provide. The program offers an educational collaboration with Farmington R-VII Public Schools. Moberly Community Counseling Center provides community-based support for families and resourcing to local support services. Transitional Living services are offered in the urban St. Louis area to help children who grew up in an urban center, yet will never return home, learn to live responsibly and independently in a familiar lifestyle setting.
