Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Climate Group works to reduce GHG emissions so that we can deliver a prosperous, net-zero future for all, and help keep global warming under 1.5°C.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Climate Group focuses on collaborative programs with corporate and governments to develop and implement powerful initiatives that drive down emissions now, while accelerating the transition to a net-zero economy.
- Under 2 Coalition: 200 cities, states and regions committed to and delivering GHG emissions by up 80 – 95%, or limit them to 2 metric tons CO2 equivalent per capita, by 2050.
- RE100: over 100 influential companies from around the world to commit to 100% renewable electricity across their global operations.
- EP100: a corporate commitment platform through which companies pledge to double their operational energy productivity within 25 years of a baseline year through the deployment of energy efficient technologies and practices.
- EV100: drives corporate demand for electric vehicles (EVs) as companies transition their fleets and provide EV infrastructure
- LED Scale UP: calls for all public lighting around the world be LED (or of equivalent energy efficiency) by 2025, and helps municipalities overcome barriers to implementing LEDs
- Climate Week NYC: global summit which gathers climate leaders from business, government, and civil society to keep the spotlight on climate action while the UN General Assembly is in session. Climate Week NYC is home to over 150 Affiliate Events, and the collaborative space in support of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Climate Group is comprised of climate, policy, and program management experts across our offices in China, US, India, and Europe - the largest emitting economies – bound by the goal of reducing GHG emissions and ushering in a prosperous net-zero future for all.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have leveraged significant collective commitments, and are now working with our partners to create and implement concrete plans which will help deliver net-zero global emissions by 2050.
