Mission Statement

The Alchemical Nursery Project is a non-profit organization committed
to promoting the development of sustainable, regenerative urban
lifestyles and landscapes, and furthering the principles of Permaculture, with the ultimate goal of creating right livelihood and community utilizing the ecovillage framework and philosophy.

By providing the resources, dialogue space, and networks needed for
those interested in the movement for sustainable cities, we are
furthering our goal to contribute to the growth of the urban ecovillage
movement locally, nationally, and globally.

1) Organizing a city-wide community gardening network: To date: Attended a community gardening conference, ?Seeding our Cities? for networking purposes; June 26th and 27th, 2008 To date: Helped organize a networking breakfast for local community gardeners, June 21st, 2008 To date: Involved in planning process for the network: visioning, etc Current: Writing grants for the network Current: Organizing a harvest potluck for October 19th, 2008 for community gardeners Current: Developing a local foods survey for wide distribution throughout the community Current: Developing a website for the network 2) Actively planning the development of the community warehouse (ComEx) to serve as a recycling and reuse center for the community ? a local green economy driver and green business incubator: To date: Developed copy for promotion of ComEx concept Current: Further developing fleshed out business plans for ComEx Current: Grant writing for ComEx 3) Starting a deconstruction partnership with Syracuse Habitat for Humanity and other local stakeholders: To date: Met with Syracuse Habitat for Humanity and the Small Business Development Center to craft a rough draft business plan for partnership Current: Continuing to meet with Habitat and consult with the SBDC to hone business plan Current: Recruiting ANP members to participate in hands-on projects and safety training for a future work crew for the ANP deconstruction operation.
