Program 1
PROVIDE AND FACILITATE PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES; PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR THOSE WITH DIABETES AND AT RISK FOR DIABETES. DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC WE WERE FORCED TO PIVOT AND PROVIDED DIABETES EDUCATION VIA ZOOM AS WELL AS RESTRUCTURED EDUCATION SESSIONS AND CONDUCTED THEM IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. DURING MUCH OF LATE MARCH, APRIL, AND EARLY MAY, WE PROVIDED DIABETES TREATMENT VIA TELEMEDICINE EITHER VIA OUR EHR OR VIA PHONE FOR OUR MOST AT RISK CLIENTS. WE WERE UNABLE TO DO OUR ANNUAL LIVE WELL WITH DIABETES PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOP BUT HOSTED A ZOOM EVENT WITH THREE INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED DIABETES EXPERTS IN MEMORY OF DR. GUTHRIE AND HONORING DIANA GUTHRIE, PHD WITH CEU'S OFFERED ON NOVEMBER 13, 2020. WE ALSO HOSTED A PUBLIC EDUCATION EVENT VIA ZOOM ON DECEMBER 19, 2020 IN RECOGNITION OF THE FIRST DOSE OF HUMAN INSULIN GIVEN BY DR. GUTHRIE AND BELINDA CHILDS WITH A PRESENTATION BY DEBBIE HINNEN, ARNP AND BELINDA CHILDS, APRN. WE HAD OVER 100 PEOPLE REGISTERED FOR THE TWO EVENTS. THE PROFESSIONAL ED PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR REVIEW. OUR WEBSITE CONTINUES TO BE UPDATED AND DURING THE PANDEMIC, CLINIC INSTRUCTIONS WERE LOADED FOR PREPARATION OF APPOINTMENTS. WE ALSO HAVE CREATED 10 EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS THAT CAN BE SHARED WITH OUR CLIENTS FOR DIABETES EDUCATION AND REVIEW. THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION CLOSED THEIR OFFICE IN WICHITA IN JUNE OF 2020 AND WE HAVE BEGUN DEVELOPING PLANS FOR HOSTING A DIABETES CAMP FOR CHILDREN AND LAYING PLANS FOR HOW WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY AND STATE WITH DIABETES CARE, EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. OUR VOLUNTEER HOURS WERE LESS DUE TO FEWER ACTIVITIES DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, BUT WE STILL HAD 250 VOLUNTEER HOURS CONTRIBUTED.
Program 2
TO PROVIDE CLINICAL SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DIABETES AND THOSE AT RISK FOR DIABETES. GREAT PLAINS DIABETES CLINIC OPENED IN 2014. CLINICAL SERVICES ARE BEING OFFERED VIA TELEHEALTH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FREESTATE HEALTH CARE. EDUCATION IS BEING SHARED VIA SHARED MEDICAL VISITS TWICE A MONTH ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS.
Program 3
TO CONDUCT, TRANSLATE, AND SUPPORT RESEARCH PROJECTS INCLUDING THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES, TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES.
