PROVIDE AND FACILITATE PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, PREVENTION, AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES; PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR THOSE WITH DIABETES AND AT RISK FOR DIABETES. PUBLIC NUTRITION CLASSES ARE OFFERED BI-MONTHLY ON TUESDAYS AND A FREE SUPPORT GROUP MEETS MONTHLY. THE ANNUAL LIVE WELL WITH DIABETES EVENT, FOUNDED AND PRESENTED BY GREAT PLAINS DIABETES WITH A NUMBER OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS, OFFERS DIABETES INFORMATION AND FREE SERVICES INCLUDING LAB TESTS, FLU IMMUNIZATIONS, AND EDUCATION FOR BOTH THE PUBLIC AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. IT REACHED OVER 400 PEOPLE IN 2019. OVER 970 VOLUNTEER HOURS SUPPORT THIS PROGRAM. GPD PARTICIPATES IN SEVERAL HEALTH FAIRS AND COMMUNICATES REGULARLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AS WELL AS VIA ITS WEBSITE AT WWW.GREATPLAINSDIABETES.COM.
