What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Disability Rights Maryland advocates to improve the lives of Marylanders with disabilities. DRM works to create a just and inclusive society by advancing and defending the legal and human rights of people with disabilities. We join people with disabilities in expanding opportunities to participate fully in all aspects of community life, and champion rights to self-determination, dignity, equality, choice and freedom from abuse and neglect.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Disability Rights Maryland maximizes resources by using an array of advocacy strategies, including information and referral, advice and counsel, outreach and education, monitoring and investigations, training and technical assistance, coalition and policy work, individual representation, impact litigation and support for self-advocacy.
