What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program 1
Sales of books, the Official White House Ornament and other items help to educate the public about the White House and preserve the history of the White House.
Program 2
Education, Conferences and Seminars and Other Programs:The White House Historical Association has several programs to educate the general public. In 2019, the Association continued the Presidential Sites Summit. This summit brings together scholars and leaders of presidential sites and libraries from across the country together to discuss key issues and consider the latest trends in topics ranging from operations to outreach and interpretation. The Association also hosted its annual White House History Teacher Institute to help promote and provide teachers information and lesson plans regarding White House history. To date, over 20,000 students have been engaged. The academic partnership with American University was expanded to included two student fellows to work in the Rubenstein Center. A new partnership with the University of Southern Californias Price School brought a graduate student to the Rubenstein Center to work on the new Slavery in the Presidents Neighborhood research initiative. The Rubenstein Center historians provided robust content for the Associations website and social media platforms and answered queries from the press and the general public. The historians gave interviews to Sirius XMs POTUS, the Associated Press, The Washington Post, the New York Times, NPR, USA Today, CNN Fox Family and Friends, and other media outlets.
Program 3
Website and Digital Assets: The WHHA Digital Library holds thousands of images of the White House covering its entire history, including exterior views, images of rooms and furnishings, and photos of events including inaugurations and holiday celebrations. In support of the Associations educational mission, each image is accompanied by carefully documented historical information provided free to the public in an easy to use format.
