Mission

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, MD, Inc, a nonpartisan organization of women and men, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government through civic engagement and providing voter services, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Our goal is to empower citizens to shape better communities.

1) Provide non-partisan services to voters, including voter registration, a Voters’ Guide and other publications, and a Voter Hotline during election season.
2) Prepare and disseminate voter education information to promote political awareness & responsibility.
3) Encourage political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and action on selected issues; 4) Provide informational and social activities for members and the public, as well as all related services for membership.

* Provide non-partisan services to voters, including voter registration, a Voters’ Guide and other publications, and a Voter Hotline during election season.
* Prepare and disseminate voter education information to promote political awareness & responsibility.
* Study public policy issues affecting Montgomery County, the state of Maryland, and the United States, using volunteer member researchers, whose materials are discussed in local discussion groups throughout the county. When members reach consensus on an issue following study, the League will engage in public advocacy.

An active Making Democracy Work Committee in charge of Voter Services.
9 resource committees, which study and monitor issues.
