What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Free Field Trip Program

We provide free admission to the Zoo for Maryland school groups – public, private, preschool, Head Start, and home school students from September to June each school year. Field trip visits to The Maryland Zoo by Baltimore-area school children provide opportunities to inspire and engage students to learn about wild life and wild places. Students learn how they can contribute positively to wildlife conservation as they are exposed to challenges animals face in the wild. Zoo programs and exhibits reinforce basic reading and math skills and are designed to support Next Generation Science Standards and Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards. They stimulate students’ critical thinking, science, math, and reading skills while educating about various life science topics.
