Mission

Prevent Human Trafficking (PHT) is a DC based non-profit working to build a bridge between South East Asia and the United States to empower individuals, organizations and governments to tackle the root causes of human trafficking through direct support and technical assistance. PHT uses its expertise and networks to promote best practice and inspire sustainable solutions in the movement to prevent human trafficking.

1. Anti-trafficking Education and Advocacy
• Conference presentations, trainings, and lectures
• Publication and dissemination of original research
• PHT chapter events at local universities
2. Annual Summer Study Program in Thailand & Cambodia
• Credit and non-credit course participation to learn worst/best practices from NGO practitioners and policy makers, conduct research, and visit shelters and projects in the field
3. Internships, Mentoring, and Field Work
• PHT provides competitive internship placements within our partner network to students and provides mentorship to stimulate new anti-trafficking leadership computer training, copy editing, etc
i. English instruction
ii. Training in basic proposal writing
4. Special Projects
• Tsunami relief volunteer placement and fundraising for NGOs
5. Partnership
• Coordination with Population and Community Development Association of Thailand (PDA) to provide assessment, job training and placement for trafficked persons transitioning to self-sufficiency
• Collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy for special awareness-raising events, and annual staff consultation with research based updates on new developments and challenges in the field

Population(s) Served

Running since 1999, this intensive, highly competitive program offers participants concerned with human trafficking unique access to some of Southeast Asia's preeminent scholars, activists, organizers and government officials at the forefront of the global anti-trafficking movement. Participants will travel extensively to gain local insights and perspectives on effective strategy, while benefiting from direct exposure to the surroundings which often propel trafficking.
