Mission
What began as a volunteer effort in 1910 has grown into an extensive campus offering retirement housing, assisted living, state-of-the-art nursing and rehab care, memory care and other services for seniors and their families. Today, more than 1,070 people make our campus in Rockville, Maryland, their home, and rely on the Charles E. Smith Life Communities for sophisticated inpatient rehabilitation, specialized memory care, nursing home services, senior housing, assisted living and outpatient medical care. We are also serving younger adults recovering from prolonged illnesses. Our programs are open to all in the community.

Program
The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington offers: on-staff full-time physicians, 24-hour nursing care, physical, occupational and speech-language therapy, social work services for residents and families, special diets and kosher meals, extensive activities, religious services, housekeeping, laundry, beauty parlor, banking services, plus dedicated volunteers. Affiliated with the Home are Ring House and Revitz House offering independent living, the new Landow House offering assisted living, Hirsh Health Center offering outpatient medical and rehab services, and our respected Research Institute.
The Rakusin Rehabilitation Center at the Hebrew Home provides more than 1,000 seniors each year with various forms of rehabilitation.
Cultural Arts Program
Programs that stimulate the mind, exercise the body, and provide musical, theatrical and art education and events that enrich the soul for 1,000 elderly who live in the Hebrew Home and on the Charles E. Smith Life Communities campus.
Russian Program
Our outreach into the Russian community continues to grow. Services for Russian-speaking residents include translation services, programs on Russian culture and customs, Russian language signage and publications, and a feeling of home for Russian residents and visitors.
