Living on Inle Lake, Shan State, Myanmar most women give birth at home. Not having access to proper pre and post natal care, birthing facilities or nutrition, GCSF's program was developed to deliver maternal and child healthcare to the women. This is done by 3 nurse/midwives and 1 boatman who travel to 50 villages on the lake delivering pre and post natal healthcare including nutrition. GCSF also supports a free land based Maternal and child healthcare clinic on Saturdays. If pregnant women and infants can not get to a proper facility for healthcare then we will take the healthcare to them.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To strengthen communities in Viet Nam and Myanmar through sustainable healthcare, education, economic independence, and humanitarian assistance programs.

Global Community Service Foundation's strategy is based on a program approach, which is supported by a variety of individual projects. We work with a variety of organizations and with local partners to strengthen communities in Viet Nam and Myanmar with accessible healthcare, good quality education for the poor and the disabled, skill development through training to grow economic independence for individuals to support themselves and their families.

Over 20 years of direct work in Southeast Asia with an proven record of dozens of completed, sustainable projects. In-country local representatives in both countries. Diversified board of directors and advisors who have a passion for Southeast Asia. Registered as an INGO in Viet Nam and holds a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sitagu International Missionary Organization in Myanmar. Long term involvement in and commitment to the people of Viet Nam since 1992 and Myanmar since 1997. Annual audit.

Viet Nam - support of one family with visual disabilities, 2 Blind Associations, 1 special education boarding school, building capacity of the teachers in special education at the boarding school, building capacity of the teachers at the local government schools, creating a new curriculum at the local medical school for vision care which created job opportunities, continuing education opportunities in the field of eye care and identification of children in schools with vision problems through annual screening.
Myanmar - began our maternal and child healthcare program with 3 retired government nurses and 1 boat who would supplement the care from the local mid-wives. Our program started in 4 villages located on Inle Lake and 4 years later is servicing 50 villages on the lake. In addition, our program is also run from one land based clinic.
