Mission

- Provide a means for sharing information , resources, ideas and support between people with all types of disabilities. - Encourage and support people with disabilities to reach economic independence through opportunities in education, information and employment. - Provide information on current legislative issues that affect civil rights, accessibility and the safety of people with disabilities. - NCSD provides advocacy, education and timely resources to any individual who has a question or concern about rights and responsibilities of persons with disabilities. - NCSD utilizes limited resources to resolve issues before any significant litigation is required, or to the extent that litigation is instituted, or is about to be instituted, to parlay the expertise of the legal committee to resolve the matter through alternative means, such as ADR or structured negotiation. - Encourage voting for whatever candidate supports their own interests. - Advance the attitudes,consideration, respect and awareness of the general public toward people with all disabilities, by demonstrating their abilities, talents, skills and capability. - To increase self-esteem and strive for perfection in their own manner within their disability. - Increase enjoyment of life through sports, recreation and social interaction.

NCSD is an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid staff. Most of us have disabilities ourselves. We work out of our homes and do not charge anything for our services.

www.ncsd.org An information source for people with disabilties. Members may post resumes and outstanding acheivements. monthly columns, stories, resources from everything from employment, intership and scholarship information to adaptive sports and current events that affect people with disabilities. We do limited pro bono legal assistance. We have 5 lawyers on our legal committee.

www.PeopleResources.org Free online classes, resume posting, employment counseling, and free job bank. Employers can post positions for free

www.TheAbleCrew.org is for elemenetary age children. It features a group of children, all with some type of disability, that go on adventures and find out how able they are. The website features a e-comic and an interactive area where children can experience what it is like to have different disabilities and to learn. Games, coloring pages, questions and answers.
