Overview

Self-reported by organization

In 2007, Hoops of Hope helped build a high school in remote Zambia.  The high school is the ONLY school within 70 miles.  Currently [2009/2010] there are 600 students at the school.

In 2008, Hoops of Hope build a medical lab and testing facility in Sinazongwe, Zambia.  We were told at the dedication that the facility would save an entire generation of Zambian children.

In 2009, Hoops of Hope funded a second medical clinic in Chilala, Zambia which will open in the summer 2010.  Additionally 4 dormitories are being funded and constructed at the school.

Finally, over 40,000 young people have participated in Hoops of Hope events from 20 countries.  These young people have been given the chance to make a difference in their world, today.  The impact on their lives will be realized throughout the next 50 years.

BIO

Austin Gutwein founded Hoops of Hope at age 10. Austin just wanted to "do something" for the orphan children he had learned about from a World Vision video he had seen. Since then, Austin has recruited tens of thousands of children from around the world to join him in making a difference.
Austin will be publishing a book with Todd Hillard titled "Take Your Best Shot" due out in Fall 2009 from Thomas Nelson Publishers. The book will encourage and motivate teenagers to get involved in becoming a world changer.

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer
