Mission

The Catawba Community Mental Health Foundation works to complement the work of SC's Catawba Mental Health agency, including the ownership and management of several apartment communities throughout the region. We specifically aim to supplement the state's services for persons with mental illness in the tri-county area. with programs designed to promote their health, security, happiness, usefulness and longer living.

Move-in Welcome for New Residents

Most of our tenants use vouchers (from Housing Authorities, HUD, etc.) for rent... turnover of an apartment does not include a lot of personal items (linens, dishes, etc.), so we want to provide new tenants an initial "welcome package" that includes a number of helpful personal items to help make their new apartment a "home," including a gift card to make personalized purchases. We don't have much turnover (about 10 per year); many of our tenants stay with us for years and years.

Occasionally, our residents and other Catawba Mental Health clients have emergencies that require resources they don't have and that are unavailable through other means (like a local LIHEAP administration agency, a local community health center, and others)... we offer mini-grants (Maximum $500) to help with unmet needs (car repairs, dental work, etc.) available by application by case workers and other client service professionals.
