Mission

The YMCA of Rome & Floyd County is an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of children, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. With a mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child, and when a community comes together for the common good. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs. The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. We mobilize our local community to effect lasting, meaningful change.

Learn, Grow & THRIVE with the YMCA

The Y feels that supporting our children on their journey to manage their emotions while creating a learning rich environment are what will drive our children toward wellbeing, safety and economic security.
The Y makes the most of this developmental stage through our complimentary out of school programs that focus on social emotional learning programs for grades 2 through 6 for boys and girls and our teen boys program for grades 7-12. Through project based learning in the makerspace, nutritious meals, and healthy physical activities the goal of this program is to create a powerful out of school environment that gives these kids the scaffolding they need to succeed emotionally, academically and physically.
