What we aim to solve
We are working to address the problem of accessibility within the arts in metro-Atlanta. The ACP strives to keep ticket prices free or at low cost and is partnering with various organizations to expand reach and accessibility.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Public Concerts
The heart of the mission of the ACP is to bring chamber music of the highest quality to diverse audiences. We perform 5 or more traditional public concerts each season. Musicians of the highest caliber perform with the ACP, including principal players of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, chamber musicians with active solo careers, and internationally renowned guest artists. The ACP performs to audiences of 175 or more in unique cultural spaces, playing at the New American Shakespeare Tavern, the High Museum of Art, Ahavath Achim Synagogue, Morehouse College, The Carter Center, SCADshow, and others. The ensemble also performs at venues outside the City of Atlanta including Spivey Hall in Clayton, Kennesaw State's Bailey Performance Center in Cobb, and 550 Trackside in Gwinnett.
Rapido! Composition Contest
The Rapido!® 14-Day Composition Contest was founded by the Atlanta Chamber Players & The Antinori Foundation in 2009 to promote new chamber music compositions. The Rapido Contest challenges composers of all ages to submit an original chamber work of 4-6 minutes composed in just 14 days: musical form and instrumentation are specified. 15 Semi-Finalist works compete at regional concerts, followed by a National Finals Concert with 5 Finalists competing. First prize includes a $7500 Commission - to expand the winning work for premiere performance by partner ensembles in five US cities the following season and - capping the Rapido contest! - to compose a work for symphony orchestra to be premiered by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra!
Subscription Soirée Series
The ACP started a subscription-based series of concerts in 1996. Our soirée performances feature masterworks of beloved classical composers as well as rarely heard virtuosic and salon works. Subscribers pay a premium to attend concerts in fine home and unique venues around Atlanta, hearing the southeast's best musicians perform chamber music in incredibly intimate settings. Individuals host the series, donating wine and food for the 75 or so attendees. The Soirée Series provide a large source of stable funding for the organization and serves as a donor cultivation opportunity, helping subsidize our educational and outreach programs and our public concerts.
Outreach & Education
The ACP’s organizes a free public performance each year, recent venues for the concert were Morehouse College in 2015, Spelman College in 2016 & 2017 and Friendship Baptist Church 2018-2020
The ACP has an active partnership with VSA Arts of Georgia and VetTix, offering free tickets to all of our traditional public concerts (always held in ADA compliant venues) through their programs to the disabled and veteran communities.
In addition to these programs, ACP is partnering with Atlanta Music Project to bring the beauty and fun of chamber music to inner-city children studying orchestral music. The ACP has also developed a relationship with the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra - the largest youth orchestra in the Southeast.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our long-term goals are to solidify and enhance both the national and international recognition of our Atlanta-based group, thereby providing a solid foundation for the group's long-term growth and development. Ultimately, the ACP aims to be the leader among chamber music ensembles in the southeast, with national and international recognition. We strive to be a national leader in the creation, performance, and distribution of new chamber music repertoire by American composers.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our long-term goals are supported by these artistic programs:
• Performances for the Metro Atlanta community
• Soirée Series in private homes and unique venues
• Rapido! Composition Project
• Performances of work by living American composers
• National and International Touring
• Outreach and Young Audiences performances
• Cross-disciplinary collaborations
• Recording, streaming, and video projects
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Atlanta Chamber Players (ACP) have successfully completed nearly 40 seasons of music-making in Atlanta. The ACP Board of Directors is comprised of community members with a wide variety of expertise. All share a love for chamber music and a desire to expand its presence in our culture, communities, and marketplace. The Board is responsible for the management of the ACP, approving the annual budget and receiving monthly financial reports. With such a small staff, the ACP Board members are typically involved in many aspects of the operation of ACP, including administration, fundraising, marketing, and publicity.
ACP's Artistic Director, Elizabeth Pridgen, is renowned as one of the region's most acclaimed pianists, with a busy international performing career. Vanya Foote brings a wealth of marketing and administrative experience to the Executive Director position. The ACP musicians are chosen from the best the region has to offer, with many coming from the ranks of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, while others are dedicated chamber musicians. All share a love of chamber music as an alternative way of expressing their musical talents. Most teach music privately or at Universities, and perform as soloists and visiting guest artists with other ensembles.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Over the course of its 44 year history, the Atlanta Chamber Players have created a solid reputation as one of the premier chamber ensembles in the southeastern United States. National and international tours, multiple acclaimed recordings, 125 local premieres, and commendations from music critics, grant-making bodies, and local governments are just some of the accomplishments of this storied organization. The Chamber Players seek to increase their visibility on the local and national arena, and to help ensure the future of chamber music through audience and musician development.

Equity strategies
Last updated: 01/06/2021GuideStar partnered with Equity in the Center - an organization that works to shift mindsets, practices, and systems to increase racial equity - to create this section. Learn more
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
