What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Outpatient Therapy: individual and group and family counseling for children and families who have been hurt by abuse or neglect.
School-Based Intervention Team: in-school therapeutic counseling to at-risk children, as well as teacher training.
Families and Schools Together: a research-based, nationally recognized parent empowerment program designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship, increase parental involvement on multiple levels, including social networks and reduce the risk of family conflict, chronic daily stress and substance abuse by the child and the family.
Therapeutic After-School Program: group counseling for children who need help with social skills and behavior management teaching children about responsible choices, conflict resolution and positive peer relationships.
Children's Personal Safety Program: a school-based program teaching first-grade students about personal safety rules and empowering them with a simple message, "Say No, Get Away and Tell Someone (and Sometimes Yell)." Trains educators how to identify and respond to abuse and neglect, and provides workshops on child safety and positive discipline for parents.
In-Home Family Education and Parenting Classes: Individualized education and support that equips parents with basic child development knowledge and proper discipline techniques.
Nurturing Program: Eight-week parent program aimed at strengthening the family unit. Participants learn parenting skills and are given a safe place to practice these learned skills. Families receive weekly home visits by program facilitators.
Family Education will be expanding services to Cabarrus County and will serve the Latino population in Cabarrus and mecklenburg.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy: This evidenced-based treatment model helps parents build a nurturing and responsive
relationship with their child, while proving child behavior problems. Originally designed to address treatment needs of children with oppositional and aggressive behaviors, PCIT has been identified as a best-practice intervention for families of children 3-8 years of age who have experienced physical abuse.
Infant Mental Health: Even very young infants and toddlers can experience traumatic stress, anxiety and depression when deprived of safe, nurturing relationships in which to grow. The IMHI works with our youngest clients and their caregivers to create safe, secure relationships, through which healthy growth and development is optimized.
Enhanced Services: Best-Practice Model designed by State of North Carolina. Services include diagnostic assessments of child?s mental health needs and functions and creation of person-centered treatment plan. Intensive in-home services are offered which provide time-limited family preservation intervention intended to stabilize the living arrangement. Each client receives comprehensive services tailored to meet each child/family?s specific needs including case management.
TreeTops: Our 624-acre camp and retreat center in Lancaster, SC provides a summer camp experience to low-income children from a five county region. TreeTops also offers challenge courses, environmental education, outdoor academic classrooms, wilderness programs and serves as a retreat venue for businesses, community groups and schools.
